ZANZIBAR DRIVING PERMITS ASSISTANCE: According to the regulations set forth
by the Government of Zanzibar, all foreign drivers are mandated to acquire a local
driving permit, regardless of whether they possess an International Driver’s
License. The fee for this permit is US$10.00 per driver. Zanzibar Car rental
(Zancarrental) offers the service of facilitating your Zanzibar Driving Permit,
which can be arranged in advance. Upon completing a confirmed booking, simply
download and fill out the provided form, and submit it along with a scanned copy of
your National Driving License. We will then handle the processing for you. For those
making last-minute bookings, we can expedite the permit issuance with just 2 hours
notice, subject to the licensing authority office hours from 09:00 to 15:00 daily.
DRIVERS: The hirer and/or authorized driver must meet specific age
requirements, being between 20 and 75 years old. Additionally, they must have
possessed a full and valid driving license for a minimum of 2 years prior to the
time of hire, with no current endorsements within the last two years. Furthermore,
the hirer and/or authorized driver must carry proper identification other than a
driver’s license.
FUEL POLICY: At the start of the rental period, all vehicles are provided
with a minimum fuel level, which should be maintained upon return. Failure to return
the vehicle with the same fuel level will result in no reimbursement for fuel at the
end of the rental period. Please note, the rental agreement does not incorporate any
fuel allowance unless expressly agreed upon in writing prior to the commencement of
the rental period.
INSURANCE: All our vehicles are covered by comprehensive insurance, inclusive
of Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). The hirer is liable for the first $400.00 of any
damages incurred. Insurance coverage is void under circumstances such as
overloading, unlawful operation of the vehicle, driving under the influence of
banned substances, or within restricted areas.
Insurance does not extend to personal consequences or damages sustained
by the renter. Additionally, personal property is not covered; renters must obtain
their own insurance for such items. Personal insurance, medical insurance,
traveler’s insurance, or any other forms of insurance are not provided with the
vehicle rental. In the event of necessity, personal insurance policies can be issued
directly to the insurance company or agents.
SECURITY: Vehicles must be securely locked when unattended, with the hirer
bearing responsibility for its security. It is incumbent upon you to ensure the
vehicle is safely parked, particularly in hotel car parks with night watchmen
present, a service offered by most establishments.
PAYMENT: To guarantee vehicle availability, it is advisable to pre-book and
pay via our secure payment portal. Alternatively, full payment is required upon car
collection. Airport/seaport/Stone Town area pick-up and drop-off are complimentary.
Delivery to other resorts/hotels on the island is available upon request with a
quotation.
DRIVER SERVICES: Should you require a driver, the fee is US $20 per day,
exclusive of driver’s allowance and fuel. Driver hours are from 07:00 to 18:00, with
a US $5 per hour overtime charge after 18:00.
CAR HIRE AGREEMENT: Additional rental time incurs a charge of US $10 per
hour. Only the renter or authorized drivers may operate the vehicle, and driving is
restricted to authorized roads, excluding Zanzibar beaches. The renter assumes
responsibility for the vehicle’s security throughout the rental period. Breach of
contract results in a 50% payment of the total agreed cost. The company reserves the
right to terminate the contract if the vehicle is not maintained properly, driven
recklessly, or subjected to intentional damage. Any damage due to negligence is the
renter’s responsibility. Fuel and driving permits are not included. Mechanical
failures are covered, and a replacement vehicle will be provided if the vehicle
cannot be repaired on-site. Free mileage.
GENERAL ADVICE: We meet guests at their requested pick-up point with a named
signboard. Notify us of your arrival terminal at Zanzibar Airport. Yield to
emergency vehicles and maintain awareness while driving. Keep a photo of your local
or international driver’s license in case of loss. Retain parking receipts for
reimbursement. When traveling at night, ensure doors are locked for safety.
